Sony's Playstation 4 Had The Biggest Launch In History - daimashin - 12-13-2013
"Today, Sony provided IGN with a copy of a market briefing from the firm DFC Intelligence. Within, DFC notes that 'The Sony PlayStation 4 has sold more units in its first two weeks than any other console at launch,' and it has the numbers to back it up.
In its first two weeks, PlayStation 4 sold 2.1 million units in North America, as well as in various European countries. Meanwhile, Xbox One sold 2 million units in its first two weeks on the market in North America, Europe, Brazil, and Australia. Back in November of 2006, Wii sold 1.6 million units in its first two weeks in North America and Japan, while way back in March of 2000, PlayStation 2’s Japanese launch pushed 1.4 million consoles in two weeks."

This makes perfect sense, considering they absolutely outshone Microsoft this past year in terms of marketing (Microsoft really messed up this time around).

Honestly I think that the main reason that the PS4 has had such great sales is because they showed off their firepower before the Xbox One and it was obvious that they already topped them by having such an amazing line up of games and the hardware that they put into it.

Xbox is all about quantity, not about quality.
Playstation on the other hand is about both, which made it successful.
