Can someone help me with RIseUp VPN? - Nyx - 02-28-2014 I've been using RiseUp for the past little while, and I thought I was protected this whole time, and I went to check ipchicken since some kid was threatening me and wanted to be secure, and turns out even though it said I was assigned a new IP and I was connected fine and dandy my IP is the same as usual, and when I went to SpeedTest, it checked from the same location. Just wondering if there was any sort of troubleshooting I can do to fix this little error. Thanks! RE: Can someone help me with RIseUp VPN? - Eclipse - 02-28-2014 Little error? Lol. Good luck anyways. RE: Can someone help me with RIseUp VPN? - Nyx - 02-28-2014 (02-28-2014, 04:31 PM)Aurora Wrote: Little error? Lol. Good luck anyways. Well, I assume it is nothing that I probably screwed up and it probably is something tiny. Though I went through the setup guide and couldn't find anything wrong... RE: Can someone help me with RIseUp VPN? - 3SidedSquare - 03-01-2014 I believe RiseUp works by re-directing it's traffic though one of it's servers. While your the traffic is going through their servers first, speedtest uses a flash object, which can give away your ip if you allow it to load. The vpn might also be complete bollocks, haven't tried it personally ![]() RE: Can someone help me with RIseUp VPN? - Eclipse - 03-01-2014 (03-01-2014, 02:50 AM)3SidedSquare Wrote: I believe RiseUp works by re-directing it's traffic though one of it's servers. Was the ip the same on speedtest.net as it was on whatsmyip.com? RE: Can someone help me with RIseUp VPN? - Nyx - 03-01-2014 (03-01-2014, 09:12 AM)Aurora Wrote: Hmm, interesting theory. RE: Can someone help me with RIseUp VPN? - Crypt - 03-01-2014 If you're using a booter just to hide your ip then get a free one like hotspot. Works as good as anything else. Hotspot Shield does work fine, but I have a tendency to turn it on and not notice, then my internet is slow as shit because it is on and it stays shit for like 2 days until I notice it is on. RiseUp just seems so simple so I'd like to stick with it.
