India Files Murder Charges Against Suspects In Brutal Gang Rape - Oni - 12-31-2012

Six people, including a minor and a bus driver, have been arrested in connection with the rape that occurred in New Delhi this month.

The woman was airlifted to Singapore earlier this week after she was treated for injuries in a New Delhi hospital.
Singapore doctors said she died "peacefully" early Saturday, surrounded by her family and Indian embassy officials.
The woman had been in "extremely critical condition" since her arrival Thursday and took a turn for the worse, said Dr. Kelvin Loh, chief executive officer at Mount Elizabeth Hospital.
"She had suffered from severe organ failure following serious injuries to her body and brain," Loh said. "She was courageous in fighting for her life for so long against the odds, but the trauma to her body was too severe for her to overcome."
The victim's body was returned to India, where it was cremated Sunday in a private funeral, Home Ministry spokesman K.S. Dhatwalia said.
It's a shame that stuff like this is happening at all. It's an even bigger shame this happened and nobody was punished yet. I think India should be dealing with these situations much more seriously. It's a poor representation of their government, given that this isn't an isolated incident (it's happened before). While charges were filed, their government is known for taking an extremely long time to address cases like this.

I read up a bit more on this, and it's good to see the public is pushing for more specific laws and public awareness.
Although, a police officer was killed in the riots, so that's not very good. :/

Some countries just don't listen to their people, though, so they are forced to do things like riots.
Just glad that my country isn't like that.

I agree that this is horrible, but look at the big picture (of india).... It faces poverty and overpopulation. If the gov stops at every case like this, there will always be cases like this because of the overpopulation and poverty... the low value of human material. A vicious cycle.
Imo, first treat the imminent problems with society before treating specific ones.
