A cup a day, doesn't keep the sleep away. - Equinox - 01-16-2014 Well I myself am a coffee drinker, but not very much. At all. There are some people who drink coffee everyday though. Caffeine is actually a drug. As you consume it, daily that is, your body creates an antidote for it because it knows what time it is usually consumed. Basically if you drink it unknowingly you will wake up as a reaction, but if you drink it everyday, same time, no effect. So really this thread should be titled "A cup a day fucks you all the way". P.S.: To all you coffee drinkers out there, you're not helping yourselves. RE: A cup a day, doesn't keep the sleep away. - Hexadecimal - 01-16-2014 This is indeed the case for most things, actually. Doesn't surprise me that coffee is part of that. Not a coffee drinker personally, but it's good on the occasion. RE: A cup a day, doesn't keep the sleep away. - Cressi - 01-16-2014 I love drinking coffee, but what you're saying is absolutely true. However, few things beat a cup of coffee in the morning. RE: A cup a day, doesn't keep the sleep away. - Flareon - 01-16-2014 Which is why I drink tea, much better! RE: A cup a day, doesn't keep the sleep away. - lux - 01-16-2014 I literally get sleepy after drinking a cup of coffee. Probably due to the fact it's a warm drink and I never drink warm beverages. RE: A cup a day, doesn't keep the sleep away. - cr33pyguy - 01-16-2014 Well this is not coffee exclusively. Also soft drinks and energy drinks. I do not drink coffee with the exception of an occasional morning/coffeehouse visit. So, the question arises as to why coffee and/or tobacco aren't banned like drugs. RE: A cup a day, doesn't keep the sleep away. - Eclipse - 01-16-2014 Meh I know this. I prefer hot chocolate. Even though I'm a Britfag, tea disgusts me. And so does coffee. RE: A cup a day, doesn't keep the sleep away. - Oni - 01-16-2014 Oh, trust me, I know. When I was living overseas, I'd drink a Red Bull just about every day. Now I have to drink a lot of caffeine for there to be much of an effect. RE: A cup a day, doesn't keep the sleep away. - w00t - 01-17-2014 Your body doesn't build up an "antidote" to caffeine. If I recall correctly, the brain just becomes less sensitive to basically every neurotransmitter, hence caffeine's massive addictiveness. If I recall correctly, the brain just becomes less sensitive to basically every neurotransmitter, hence caffeine's massive addictiveness. I never said this antidote was a bodily fluid. I also never said it wasn't something that had to do with the neurotransmitters. However, I've had coffee many times. I am not a coffee drinker myself, however. I have one at least once every three weeks if even that. I rarely drink it. I also never hinted it was addictive. I said many people drink it. The thread implies that caffeine is what could be considered a "drug", if you will. Sugar itself is a drug. |
