No Skype - Anonymous - 12-24-2012
I believe AF shouldnt have a skype chat for its members because of these reasons.
1) We have comet chat.
2) Takes away possible posting activities.
and thats about it. I mean if anything all its really doing is making AF a middle man for its users to post a bit and then get into the skype for fast support or to talk about a subject that could have been talked about here freely.
Its really Anars choice in the end but I just wanted to see what you guys thought about it.

I think we should, I hate comet chat and I've made good friends over Skype. It doesn't take away posting opportunities because most of it would get you banned if posted.

Personally, I really like the social structure of Skype. It gets answers to questions a lot quicker. If we took away the official one, I'm sure people would form an unofficial one.

I see. This is another vaild point. I googled it and seeing a forum talking about why it would be a bad idea. So google it and check it out.

I just Googled it as well and only found support questions. But I can think of many bad things regardless. Right now we're small, so Skype is good. But maybe when we get much bigger a Skype group would be bad. Then AF members would make their own small groups for different topics. Such as having a "Website Hacking" Skype group and a "Monetizing" Skype group. For now though, I think the current Skype group is fine.

Yeah. As you can tell there could be a lot of bad things to this and some good things. I honestly can't really tell you what would out weigh the others.

Personally, I would support this. A lot of post activity is being lost to the Skype chat. If nothing else, perhaps we should try it for a week. If it increases forum activity, remove it permanently. If not, put it back in place.

Personally, I think the Skype chat should exist. Reason being, the site goes down sometimes, and I like to be able to reach all the members at once. While we might get rid of Skype in the future, it's a terrible idea right now. Our site is very unified because of the chat and it allows people to briefly discuss stuff that might not warrant the creation of a thread. Maybe in the future, but we'll see.
