China to execute 'spy' who gave away state secrets on flash drive - bl4cklak3 - 11-13-2024
China is set to execute an alleged spy who gave away state secrets on a flash drive after being lured abroad with the promise of 'experiencing exotic customs'.
The individual surnamed Zhang 'provided a large number of top secret and classified state secrets to foreign intelligence agencies,' the Beijing's Ministry of State Security said in a post to its official WeChat account on Wednesday.
It also announced that Zhang had been sentenced to death for handing over a USB stick containing the state secrets he had access to and handing them over to foreign spy agencies.
No details were given about when he would be executed.
Zhang was once 'a core confidential personnel of a state agency' and was exposed to a large number of state secrets at work, the ministry said.
