Best way pay off Credit Card Debt - Cannabic - 03-18-2024 What are some ways that you guys know about to pay off Credit Card Debt? Ive been watching many videos on settling debt and a few suggestions that I have seen are rather extreme. One in particular requires that you do not pay credit card companies for 3 months to start the process of being put to collections. Once you get to collections you deny the debt and request for them to prove that you owe this debt. Then make an offer to pay a portion of the debt to the collection company with the conditions that your account will be settled in full. now the problem is that even though you can pay it off it will remain on your credit report for 7 years. Upon researching further you still would qualify for a FHA loan after 12 months but this still seems rather extreme. Do any of you know of something similar or if this is not as bad as I think it is? Between Bankruptcy, Settling with Collections, Paying off slowly, or any other methods which would be the cheapest, have the least impact if I plan to buy a home in the next 3 years, and leave the least impact on my credit report? RE: Best way pay off Credit Card Debt - Oni - 03-18-2024 My recommendation would be to get a loan to consolidate your debt, at a rate/timeframe that you are capable of paying. A lot of the companies offering solutions for debt are predatory as hell, so make sure you do your research. Consolidating your debt with a reasonable loan could help you to start improving your credit rating again, whereas bankruptcy/collections will have a definite negative impact. A proven method of paying off a debt is the snowball method. Simply put just paying off the smaller debts to get them gone and progressively addressing the bigger ones. Either way addressing it head on is the best way, avoid leaving it hoping they make a deal or even worse go for something like an IVA, as a last resort. As the person put before, consolidation is a good way to manage it also. Look up a guy called Dave Ramsey, yeah he might be a millionaire now giving advice, but he fucked it a couple of decades back and now provides pretty decent advice / reality checks. Good luck. |
