Windows/MacOS are for children and tech-illiterates. GNU/Linux is the only proper OS.

Depends on the distro entirely. Linux Mint is pretty similar to windows and should be easy to pick up for a beginner.

Others that may be more command line friendly, not so much. There's a distro out there for pretty much every one.

Yes, it is very customizable and most aren't spyware. They are light on resources and are open-source. The attack vector is significantly smaller than Windows or even MacOS.

Hey there,

When comparing Linux to Windows, it's essential to consider various factors.

Linux offers several advantages over Windows, including:
1: Cost, Linux distributions are typically free to use, making them a cost-effective option compared to Windows licenses.
2: Security, Linux is inherently more secure than Windows.
3: Customization, Linux provides extensive customization options, allowing users to tailor their systems to their specific needs. Additionally, Linux distributions (distros) cater to various user preferences and hardware requirements.

However, it's essential to acknowledge that Windows also has its strengths, including software compatibility, extensive support for gaming, and familiarity for many users.

In the end, it just depends on what you are using it for.

If you can handle the lack of software support for Linux compared to Windows, then yes, it's worth it. And depending on the distribution, you can end up with an unstable system. More so than Windows.

I love Linux, but not going to say people who use Windows/MacOS are tech illiterate. IMHO, each OS has various strengths and weaknesses. Windows has better support for business applications in general, as well as gaming / VR. MacOS's strength is as a creative and design platform. Linux is extremely customizable, generally free, and *can be* extremely lightweight and secure, making it well suited for many server setups.

As a developer and modest hacker, I don't really feel limited by any of the platforms other than what software is supported.
