Do you think money buys happiness? - lucca3k - 02-17-2024

Some argue that financial stability can lead to a more comfortable and fulfilling life, while others believe that true happiness stems from experiences and relationships rather than material wealth.

Well you aren't going to have what you want and experiences you want without money..... How much is enough..... And it can be fleeting, here today and gone tomorrow..... You can be happy still, but money helps, it's like the biggest worry, because you know how much it would help me now? To have enough to take care of some fucked up problems and be able to live , and it will get done eventually but have enough to get it done now, I want to get back to living cause I had to start over and been some messed up shit so far , I'm happy but not even close to where I want to be, starting over takes time, assholes get in the way.... Haters hate, they don't want to see you succeed at anything, screw that, I don't like everyday being a fight, get some peace , money or more of it would absolutely help, so does it by happiness yes.... Do people with tons of money still have problems, oh yeah they do, so in that sense, no it doesn't buy happiness....

We can get there , wherever you and I want to be in life, I believe, you can find that here and get to that happiness in life to where it's going to be steady.....

Best thing for me is to get others there too, but we have to get there, smartly, let's find it , I'm in, .....

We got this

Money gives you freedom of action and choice (illusion)
In any case, it is better to be unhappy with money than happy without it)

our purchases may make us happier when they're motivated by goals we care about....

It sounds like you've been through quite a journey, you bring up an important point about the role of money in providing opportunities and alleviating certain stresses in life, money definitely plays a role in easing some of life's burdens and opening doors to opportunities.

My biggest dream is to retire my mother, and i know someday ill get there.

Thank you for sharing your perspective.

(sorry if my english is bad)

Your English is fine!

Thank you bro for your kind words......Life has been very awesome and very bad, but Im about hallway, when I look back, oh yeah lots of greatness, not in money just life........Im starting over and legit, starting over, and I want to get started and cant, lots of shit in the way.

But you touched on something, thats very special, and hits home......what you said about your Mom, that is one of the most honorable things I have ever heard.......I have done just that......While my life was awesome and that was going away, it brought me back to my Mom, and as it got its worst, i thought I was going to loose her.....I felt that she had worried herself so much about me, and she went down with a stroke the told me that she was never coming out of the nursing home and in fact she was under sedation a lot, I had just gone through divorce and wicked people, and thats when she went down, seeing her under sedation, was so hard.....my moms a fighter and i told her to fight and she got to the nursing home and she wanted to come home, i personally went 4 days a week to rehab her, worked with the social workers and dieticians, doctor, God blessed me with a girlfriend who was an in home caregiver, no lies either bro, well I got her home for over a year, it was great, but like i said, life gets bad and got to a new low, the girlfriend , who was loved by my Mom and I , assumed my Moms identity, and just spiraled out of control.....and she took off, and I cant take care of my Mom by myself, i have kids too, so she is in a very good nursing home, and its great cause the nurses let me just listen to her, as you see I type a lot, she loves talking and people, and that's what she does there.......so its awesome and if i can get the things right again I will take her out again, but as usual life for me is the worst, I don't even want to say things , its tough, do I need money for me , not much but I need money for lawyers and bills and the same assholes in my life almost got my house foreclosed , its insane , if i had enough money I could get the lawyers and pay for home help and get my Mom out again, so its on the list, its just time is running out and money is going to assholes, who steal and cause problems, waste time....its so unfair, but better days are coming.

So work hard for that goal, because at least she's in a good place now and how awesome i was able to spend that year with her here with me, that is just life changing, so thank you for the good memories i experienced today and it helps drive me forward. Ill get her out again when the time is right, oh yeah......

Im blessed and honored to have crossed your path, work hard so you can help her, its worth everything...Great stuff bro!!!

First what's happiness means to you >.?

While it’s true that financial stability can contribute to a sense of well-being, the relationship between money and happiness is more nuanced than a simple “yes” or “no.” Let’s explore:

Basic Needs and Security: Having enough money to cover basic necessities like food, shelter, and healthcare is crucial. When these needs are met, people tend to feel more secure and content.
Diminishing Returns: However, beyond a certain point, the impact of money on happiness tends to diminish. Research suggests that once you reach a moderate income level, additional wealth doesn’t significantly boost overall happiness.
Relative vs. Absolute Wealth: Our perception of wealth is often relative. We compare ourselves to others in terms of income and possessions. If everyone around us has more, we might feel less satisfied—even if our absolute wealth is sufficient.
Experiences vs. Material Goods: Spending money on experiences (travel, hobbies, time with loved ones) tends to bring more lasting happiness than accumulating material possessions. Experiences create memories and connections.
Purpose and Fulfillment: True happiness often comes from a sense of purpose, meaningful relationships, and personal growth. Money alone can’t provide these intangibles.
In summary, while money can enhance certain aspects of well-being, it’s not a direct path to happiness. Balance financial stability with other factors that contribute to a rich and fulfilling life
