Tutorial: How to make a invisible folder - Codec - 10-26-2013

Do you have files which you want to keep hidden from the eyes of public? Then this is the right tutorial for you, today I'm showing you how to make a invisible folder on the desktop.

The first thing you need to do is to create a new folder on the Desktop. After you have done that press rename and then remove all the text, then hold the ALT key while typing 255. Now there should be no label for the folder.

Now rightclick the folder and press "Properties", then go to the "Customize" tab and select "Change Icon". Now change the icon to one of the blank transparent icons in the list, and then press "Ok". Now press "Apply" and your done, now the folder should be invisible.

Nice tutorial, but you can see them if you go to file manager right?

I think so, but you have to highlight the folder to even see it.

You can also use character map to get the blank character rather than using alt.

Really cool tut. I appreciate it. The ALT step didn't work for me, so I used the cmap. And lastly, there were no transparent icons. The blank icons came out like this.

I can hide it by putting it in the blackness, but is there a way to make it blend in anywhere?

Found a pre-made transparent BG on google. It works now.
