X (Twitter) Adds to Their Subscription Model - Dismas - 10-28-2023

X, which was previously known as Twitter, added to their subscription model. $16 per month to bypass ads.

Stopped using the site entirely, as they borked embeds and blocked people from viewing posts as guests.

Quote:X has introduced two new subscription tiers coupled with new features for each model. Formerly known as Twitter, X launched a Basic tier that costs $3 per month and a new Premium+ tier that costs $16. However, the standard Premium tier is still the default option for users. X has been readjusting the prices and features for its subscription tiers for some time, and it appears that the company has finally decided on the cost and the features that come with it.

X has announced new Premium+ and Basic tiers with dedicated features

If you are not familiar with X's basic $3 monthly subscription tier, it does not get you a verification checkmark. However, the company has added some basic features to the mix. You will have the option to post longer tweets, edit tweets, themes, and custom app icons. However, the basic plan does not get rid of ads. While the features are pretty basic, the company has reserved high-end features for the Premium+ model.

Agreed. Paying for a worse version of something we already had for free... No thanks.

Initially hoped Elon would bring freer speech to the platform, but his decisions seem too erratic to amount to anything meaningful.

Hardly anybody is going to be willing to spend money on that. People are cheap.
