WTF is going on in Gaza? - FarmerM - 10-16-2023
Is it a genocide or is hamas really using it's citizens as human shields?
RE: WTF is going on in Gaza? - 7om 8rady - 10-16-2023
Jews were given a country after World War II.
Palestinians lived in a lot of it and were less than impressed.
Jews fought Palestinians, Palestinians fought Jews.
Rinse and repeat for the past 80 years or so. Years-old shit that will never be resolved.
That is a very boiled-down version of where we are at.

Hamas is movement which not represent Palestinians. They seized power and killed legal authorities which before represent Palestinians (lit. thrown them from windows, in best way shot at the knees). Palestinians often fighting against them. So it is wrong to put Palestinians and Hamas on one table. But yep, due to political reasons nowadays some countries do it, kind of military propaganda. Majority of people lived in peace and had no troubles.
This movement born at own time because Israel itself supported it on initial stage. As enemy to another Palestinian movement for liberation of country. But because Hamas represent radicals, Israel decide it will be fine to use this terrorists for confrontation and to reduce support of Palestine in rest world (exactly this trap which you just demonstrated, it allowed to declared whole nation as terrorists).
But as it always happens (e.g modern Taliban and al-Qaeda which US supported against USSR), they lost control and movement became real threat.
Hamas is part of "Muslim Brotherhood" movement (another terrorists according to most countries, but widely supported during so-called Arabian Spring in 2011 by West, as example when they seized power in Egypt), mainly funded by Qatar. Hamas are religious people, so question about "usage of own citizens as shield" for them is pointless, because dead people will go to heaven.

But yep, anyway whole situation looks strange. They of course could predict behavior of Israel, so unclear, why they did it. Just to disappear without future for own people (anyway they perceive Palestinians as own people) - incredible strange decision. It must be some more important goal which is unclear for us right now.

Hamas isn’t a “terrorist organization”. The majority of Palestinians rightly support Hamas. Of course they are.
– they have hostages.
– latest videos how they attacked: killed non combatants, civilians and captured (only criminals/terrorists kill / injure captured).

Typical dehumanization tactics. Easier to get foreign aid if the enemies are heartless babykillers.

It is crucial to recognize that the situation in Gaza involves the loss of innocent lives, displacement, and suffering on both sides.
