IRC - Use It!
TL;DR: We now have an IRC and I am urging members to use it for communication.

For way too long, the forum has been using Skype to communicate. Skype is, quite frankly, a terrible means of communication. Microsoft has a bad track record of ensuring privacy and it's time that Sinisterly changes its means of communication. That is, to IRC. It's painfully simple to use, takes no time to connect, and is much better for the site.

The Skype chat, as many know, is incredibly slow at times, and it's becoming very tiresome to deal with it. I have set up a channel on 2600.net's IRC server. I would strongly encourage everyone to start using the IRC as soon as possible. Skype is great for video/voice calls, but I won't be using it as often anymore. I also encourage everybody to register their nicknames.

[ Configurations ]

If you aren't using the web-client, these are the settings you should use.

Code:
[No Longer In Use]

If you want SSL, use these settings.

Code:
[No Longer In Use]

Have a great day!
If you have any questions or concerns, message me or post below.

I agree with Oni 100% on this one. Skype is pretty bad and everyone that uses it should feel bad. Get on the IRC noaw.

Didn't you once try out IRC but then went back to Skype again?
I could've sworn that had happened before, or am i just experiencing some major deja'vu...

Yeah, that happened. Will it happen again? Hopefully not.

Mind kicking me, seem to be bugged.

This time its different since now all the newfriends will have a web client option. Also, from the looks of it the IRC is more active than the Skype chat has been in months. And its all srs talk instead of the normal shit that gets said in skype chat.

And the seriousness will "slowly" degrade into absolute bullshit if I have anything to say about it.

Great idea, the Skype's gotten way too hammered.

RE: IRC - Use It! - Eclipse - 12-04-2013

Great idea! I was wondering when this would be implemented. Is there a way to connect using SSL?

Try these settings, with SSL enabled:
Code:
Server: irc.2600.net Channel: #Sinisterly Port: 6697 or 9999
