What's the worst minor mistake you've made in terms of cost? - Nohbdy - 09-04-2012

So apparantly, for the last 3 months, my employer has been running on new subscriptions only...

Backstory: About 3 months ago, I found out about a somewhat potentially massive security vulnerability with my employers storefront. So I helped, and proceeded to transfer his whmcs installation onto a separate VPS, one where only the store was on the vps. WHMCS requires a daily cron job run from ./admin/cron.php .

So I put the cron job down as "wget -o https://my.employ.er/admin/cron.php".

Cloudflare blocks wget.

Today, my employer starts an audit.

"Gee, why are there so many overdue payments?"

Well, depending on how this plays out, I possibly lost my employer upwards of $10,000.

Oops.

On a better note, this'll look great to our investor performancewise. You see, they just invested $12,000. If we regain that $10,000 loss, the value of that portion goes to $13,000 $15,000.

EDIT: Math doesn't check out there...

I've never had anything like this happen to me - but I do remember paying £299 more for a jacket where it was £99 on another site - was gutted when I saw :p

Haven't happened this to me yet. But, if he's a smart employer, he should have approved anything before shelling out some money.

He didn't shell out any money. This was a bug with our sales software.

I accidently bought hosting from NameCheap with a domain, for a year, when I already had hosting. Pissed me off.

I paid for phone insurance and car breakdown cover, only to afterwards realise i could have got it for free because of extra benifits from my bank account. I was gutted Tongue

I didn't use a number 2 pencil on my finals and failed history and math. That will probably effect my future. Well in costs, I used to have a very rare item in TF2 which I could of sold for thousands of dollars.
Spoiler:
Vintage Sam's Severed Head.

My sister did the exact same thing on hers, although only for one part. She still got it marked, though. It's just a precaution in case of smudging where I'm from, so if you do use pencil and it smudges, your fault. Is it a broken rule, hence no mark, over where you live? I'm in Australia btw.
