VirtualBox vs VMWare - Adorapuff - 10-13-2013

Take your pick and list a reason why.
I like VirtualBox because its free and still HQ.

Obviously VirtualBox for more than 1 reason.
1: It's free
2: It's made by oracle (creators of java)
3: It's fast and responsive.

I have had some problems with bridging the network adapter in Virtual Box but I've never used VMWARE.

I'll go with VMware, it's nice, responsive and organized.

Because Java is super secure and totally amazing.

VMware, because:
VMware rocks they have a lot of free seminars in my country.
They support the both paid(VMware WorkStation) and free(VMware player) version the same way.
They offer to connect to server with VMs.
Also paid is often better than the free.

I tried VirtualBox many times and always had trouble with wifi USB drivers, so had to stick with VMWare... I like the GUI of virtualbox, and both seem to have some options the other is lacking. But without solid USB drivers for wifi, VMWare takes a huge lead for that fact alone.

If it wasn't for the driver issue, I probably would say close tie and possibly even VirtualBox would be the winner.

In response to Cake: "2: It's made by oracle (creators of java)" I just have to say that really is nothing to brag about. They have been changing their software licensing terms to pretty much screw over it's customers. Plus their long history of javascript security problems that can be traced back several years after a problem is found, leaving the security aspect of this company a complete failure. But, used in-house only, java is very impressive(and great for maliciously exploiting against idiots who are not security aware)

I use both. Each of them have their pro's and con's.

That's not always true but it is true with VMware.
VMware has many more features and seems overall more responsive than Virtualbox. VMware just provides you with overall more content than Virtualbox.
