A way to make our parents proud - EquitableEngineer - 04-22-2023 Would be nice to have a post of the week / month for the forum where either Oni or a group of select individuals could decide on the best post that week / month and have it displayed on the front page. Just a fun little addition that (from my 0.0 years of experience running a forum) seems easy to implement, the winner could even have a temporary badge of some sort applied to their profile while they hold the prize. Could be something that was funny or a post that was particularly helpful. Numerous posts worthy of the prize already come to mind for me. RE: A way to make our parents proud - Defeat - 04-23-2023 This is a great idea. I think @mothered and @Oni would appreciate bringing something weekly. Just bought my mother an apple pie and I think she was planning on baking me one this coming week lol so she started laughing. RE: A way to make our parents proud - Jiggly - 04-23-2023 I think we may have had member of the month or something similar way back in the day, but I truly can't remember why we stopped. RE: A way to make our parents proud - Oni - 04-23-2023 People are always sharing/learning, but it is hard to choose just one contribution. I haven't seen as many structured posts (i.e. tutorials) or informational threads. When it comes to people going above and beyond, the list gets pretty short. We'd see the same names over and over again, so rather than issue duplicate awards... we just sort of stopped. @mothered would win every month if we were to do it now. Could give small NSP prizes to runners up, or not. I only meant this as a fun idea (I was incredibly stoned) but the more I think about it something like this could bolster activity on the forum. |
