Starting My Military PT :P - Gingie - 08-30-2013

I leave for Navy basic in March 2014 so I figured I might as well start now. Of course, I stopped weight lifting and doing PT since I graduated high school, so I'm sooooo out of shape xD. Anyways, gotta start small. So here's what I'm doing so far:

PT Pyramid

Step 1: 1 Pull ups, 2 Push Ups, 3 Sit Ups
Step 2: 2 Pull ups, 4 Push Ups, 6 Sit Ups
Step 3: 3 Pull ups, 6 Push Ups, 9 Sit Ups
Step 4: 4 Pull ups, 8 Push Ups, 12 Sit Ups
Step 5: 5 Pull ups, 10 Push Ups, 15 Sit Ups
Step 6: 6 Pull ups, 12 Push Ups, 18 Sit Ups

After you do that, you go back DOWN the pyramid. So It's from 6 to 1.
This may look easy, but I can guarantee most won't be able to go from step 1 to step 6 and back down to 1 in one shot.

So yeah, this is what I'm starting with. Plus I'll be running a lot at night. I'll show pics someday eventually of me with progress Tongue.

Is it just max pull ups? The first two steps seem redundant. Why not just do 5 sets of max on each exercise (remove sit ups for they are useless)?

This is a workout provided from military.com but idk. I'm using it, and it makes me really hurt like hell xD. It does work. It seems redundant because it's easy. But it says that the first three steps are a warm up. Plus by the time you get back down the pyramid to the last two, you are killing your body.

I've been interested in enlisting in the Marines for quite some time, mind if I ask why you chose the Navy?

Make sure you're running as well. Running is a must, and its never fun being the slowest one.

You should join the Marine Corps instead. Tongue

I chose the Navy because I was born a fish. Always was on swim teams. Plus I like the branch. I'm more of a technical person. I'm going in for Computer Engineering. Also good luck in the Marines. I'm not trying to detour you from making your decision, but right now America is sending all Marines to Syria.

That sounds awesome. I used to do some pyramid workouts then run 5 km but now I just run long distances and mountain bike.
