RE: What does the term "hacker" mean to you? - The High Roller - 12-05-2012 Doesn't have to be a site, I believe hackers are people who crave confidential information and exploiting stuff. RE: What does the term "hacker" mean to you? - Kinanizer - 12-06-2012 I define a Hacker as someone who has entered a computer without permission, or has prevented someone from doing so. Your a good hacker if you can remotely hack, or stop a remote hacker. RE: What does the term "hacker" mean to you? - The High Roller - 12-06-2012 I would like to rephrase mine. A person skilled with the use of computers that uses his talents to gain knowledge. There are three classifications of hackers: A white hat who loves to help people instead of exploiting them. Or simply loves the exploration of hacking. A grey hat: loves both black hat and white hatting. A black hat: hacking to find exploits and system weaknesses Another example of the term hacker: A term broadly used to describe hardware and software research and development, and modification. "To hack" essentially means "to plow," and refers to assembling and modifying computer systems and programs. Programmers with high technical capabilities are given the honorary title of hacker. A blackhat doesn't just find exploits and weaknesses, but profits of them as well. In some way, whether it be cash or glory.
