Get rid of the WinRAR 40 day reminder [3 STEPS] - Platinum - 07-20-2013 Hey, In this tutorial I will explain on how to get rid of the annoying WinRAR 40 Day Reminder that shows when you launch WinRAR. You will need to use the Resource Hacker tool once for this tutorial, you can delete it afterwards. (Direct link) 1. Locate WinRAR First, open up Resource Hacker and in the top menu click ' File -> Open (CTR + O) '. Locate the location of your ' WinRAR.exe ' and open it. Default: C:\Program Files\WinRAR\WinRAR.exe 2. Opening the right resource Now in the left panel search for ' Dialog ' and hit the '+' left from it. ![]() In the other resources that collapse search for ' REMINDER ' and again hit the '+' left from it. You should now see a resource named '1033'. Click it. ![]() ![]() Now you should see this: ![]() 3. Removing the source and saving the file Right click '1033' and select 'Delete Resource'. It will ask for confirmation, click 'Yes'. ![]() ![]() In the top menu select 'File -> Save As'. Now, browse to your desktop and save it as ' WinRAR.exe '. Go back to your WinRAR installation directory and rename the origional 'WinRAR.exe' to ' WinRAR_Old.exe '. Now move or copy your newly created 'WinRAR.exe' into your WinRAR installation directory. Also, there are features that WinRar has out of the box has that 7Zip doesn't, such as SFX archives. There are also some more comprehensive abilities that can be unlocked via a torrent. Or, god forbid, buying it. These would also obviously remove the reminder.
