Hopefully you figured it out by now, but for anyone wondering.
The main advantage of a hacked switch is obviously running homebrew, which is an umbrella term for 'hacking' more specifically running unsigned code on locked down devices.
Which essentially allows you to download and play games for free, among other things. Unless their policy changed, Nintendo usually issues bans for modded consoles. It is possible to conceal your console's state and avoid that, though.
