UFC Fighter Tries to Kill Pedophile, Charged/Denied Bail - Dismas - 03-16-2022

A former UFC champion was denied bail, after he tried kill a pedophile that molested his family member. The pedophile survived, but the pedophile's stepfather was injured.

Dana White and a bunch of other fighters have written letters, voicing support for Cain:

Quote:Former UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez was denied bail Monday in his attempted murder case, per a Santa Clara County (California) court spokesperson.

Judge Shelyna Brown of Santa Clara County Superior Court said the "risk is too great" to let Velasquez out on bail because of the "extreme recklessness" of the retired fighter's actions.

Velasquez's next court date is April 12, per Holly Baird, head of communications for Velasquez's Geragos & Geragos legal team. Velasquez cannot request bail again unless the district attorney adds or drops charges, per Baird.

"It is clear to this court that there is clear and convincing evidence that there is a substantial likelihood that release would result in great bodily injury, not just to the named complaining witnesses in this case but to Santa Clara residents at large," Brown said. "This case involves allegations of extreme recklessness to human life."

Velasquez, 39, was arrested Feb. 28 after allegedly chasing down the man -- Harry Eugene Goularte, who is being charged with molesting a young relative of Velasquez -- and shooting a gun into Goularte's vehicle, per the Santa Clara County district attorney. Another man in the vehicle, Goularte's stepfather, Paul Bender, was hit by one of the gunshots in his arm and torso. Bender suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

There is definitely a big difference between objective law, and the emotions a human being goes through.

While I imagine I'd probably want to kill someone just as much if they laid a hand on a young family member of mine, I do think the law has it's place.

What does killing the pedo really achieve?

I don't know how well-received this opinion will be, but I personally believe it would be good for psychologists and medical professionals to study pedos as much as possible, rather than handing out death sentences. It would be good if they can find out why human beings turn and exhibit the thoughts and behaviours pedos do, with the intent to preventing instances like this re-occurring. AKA, solve the root cause of the problem.

Put them both in the ring and settle it.

Although this is highly controversial, It's understandable. Any sane person would probably do this for a loved one.

Goularte hasn't been convicted yet, but what's been said is disturbing:
Quote:Harry Goularte Jr. is accused of committing a lewd and lascivious act with a child under 14. The unidentified child is a close relative of Velazquez and is reportedly four years old.

Per court documents, Harry took the child into the bathroom of a daycare center and touched his genital area. The child testified that the act happened ‘100 times’, and Goularte told him not to tell anyone about his actions.
