Metaverse, short for “meta-universe”, is a digital world where the real and virtual merge in a vision of science fiction, allowing people to move between different devices and communicate in a virtual environment. In practical terms, it refers to augmented and virtual reality products and services. Term; It denotes a cyberspace parallel to physical reality, where the human community can interact in the form of avatars. The concept was coined by author Neal Stephenson in the 1992 science fiction novel "Snow Crash." Shared online space also refers to the merging of physical, augmented and virtual reality. Tech blog The Verge says the metaverse is partly a dream for the future and partly a way to encapsulate changes that are already underway. Some video game communities have already created the seeds for meta-universes, like Roblox (a platform with countless games created by kids and teens) or Fortnite. In fact, more than 12 million players followed the five virtual concerts of rapper Travis Scott, who appeared as an avatar in Fortnite in April. People are better off playing IMVU or Second Life (released in 2003-2004). They already offer avatars with customization, property systems, and everything else that's being touted as revolutionary. The difference is that they're not as predatory when it comes to assets. In my honest opinion, even Habbo Hotel has more to offer than what Zuckerberg and them have planned.

Well, it's an idea that's losing Meta billions of dollars. And it's mostly because of the fact that it's just not fun.
Compare Horizon Worlds to an actually fun VR game like VRChat. Horizon Worlds looks like a cold dead wasteland. While in VRChat, there are many beautiful worlds, where you can use any character model you like. Unfortunately, it's hard to find player count stats on Horizon Worlds to compare to VRChat.
And don't forget, anything Meta will always be associated with Facebook, and Facebook will always be associated with people who are about 40 or older. What young person, including myself, would want to be associated with something like that?
