First of all, what were you storing on those drives? I'm assuming they're gone by now. Second, just flash DBAN to a USB and wipe the drive with it.

Seconding the recommendation of DBAN. DoD (3-pass) or DoD (7-pass) should be more than plenty, even if you're hiding something especially damning.
