It's garbage, in my opinion. If the world was gradually falling apart, like in the movie, scientists would have known about it by now. If some meteor or or sudden event was to occur, we would have been able to predict that too. These End of the World theories always come up every few years.

There is a new end of the world scare every year, I thought they were real when i was nine.
I no longer think any of them are real, if we were all going to die or vanish we would not know about it from some dirty old stone tablet.

Hmm, have you heard a few days ago the special ice caps that hold methane and such gases was melting at an extreme rate? Found by scientists but a few days ago.

I don't doubt that they are melting, but the theory that the world will be destroyed by it within a month, is ridiculous.

Ridiculous or not, you cannot completely rule it out because it seems unrealistic. Humans have learnt from this long ago.
