Google Chrome - 37 New Vulnerabilities - Dismas - 01-09-2022
According to a recent blog post from Google, the Chrome desktop browser is now vulnerable to 37 new vulnerabilities. Updates have been pushed and there will likely be more.
Quote:Google Chrome users need to be on high alert. After a record breaking number of attacks last year, Google has already issued the first serious new upgrade warning of 2022 to all the browser’s two billion users.
Google confirmed the news in a new blog post, where it revealed an eye-opening 37 security vulnerabilities have been discovered. Google has classified 10 of these vulnerabilities as posing a ‘High’ threat level with a further hack ranked as critically dangerous. Linux, macOS and Windows users are all affected and need to take immediate action.

Chrome died a long time ago. They have embedded actual keylogging and that should be enough. But it isn't, because you have to consider that, with just over 2 million million users (2*10^9) users, that's a very large number of targets for potential ad revenue. Google is all about targeted advertisements. Only idiots trust this browser.

I switched from Firefox to Ungoogled Chromium last year, so I could finally remove myself from Mozilla. They've been getting shadier and shadier over the years, and I don't want any part of them anymore. I like Ungoogled Chromium for its interface, performance, and near guarantee of no spyware, since anything Google has been removed in an opensource repository.
But I would also have to assume that most vulnerabilities found in Google Chromium can be found in Ungoogled Chromium as well.

What are you feelings about a privacy fork based on Firefox? Such as Librewolf? I read something about them having some standards. Anyone have any experience with the browser enough to assert its security and or privacy?

Originally, I had typed a long post on mobile that detailed a lot of points including anonymizing yourself. The bottom line? *I use Tor Browser & Firefox with Arkenfox.js*. I can't recommend what I don't use. Decide for yourself.

Then it is good. I have a good configuration and am using the right browser combo. Thanks for sharing. Ill check out Arkenfox.js as I have not heard of this.

Once I started using Brave, I never looked back. Some people hate Chromium or BAT, so they might prefer Firefox/Librewolf.
