I have a feeling the protests weren't just about the Covid19 Lockdowns. It seems odd that this new mandate has had barely any media coverage if any..
The Australian government has new laws on the books to hack your computer, your online accounts, and just about any piece of technology and networks you come into contact with. It can happen without a warrant and without you ever knowing. That’s just the start of it. Outraged? Good.

This was expected after seeing the announcing of a Social Media Credit Score being attached to your passport and a blacklist provided by the government to future employers and banks. Australia is very quickly losing its rights and becoming a prison island. Shouldn't have forfeited your guns to the government.

I think it is definitely the start of something bigger, especially looking into 'The Five Eyes' with the five nations - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Five_Eyes I'm wanting to know if because of this, whether or not they will proceed to push these mandates and get other nations on this anti-privacy train.

Yes, I would like to know what they classify as an 'emergency' and the fact that the warrants have a maximum of 90 days, however they can be extended? If they can extend it, how many times will extensions be applicable.
Say for an example, someone from Australia is on this forum and hacks their government, does that now give them granted access to all Australian users being investigated without notice/consent for potential involvement?
Am I being stupid or are these questions valid?

Although an emergency authorization Is not (yet) clearly defined, I'd assume It falls under a probable cause to Investigate (In full) without needing a warrant. It's like making an arrest when there's reasonable grounds to do so - the police don't wait for a warrant to apprehend a murder suspect.

This is typically referred to as "exigent circumstances" in American law. Often when evidence is obtained without a warrant or exigent circumstances, it must be thrown out. It sounds like Australians will be afforded no such rights.

Ah, I understand. I think its a strange path they're going down especially after reading about what @ghostboy said about the potential requirement for all social media to have an ID attached. Australia is headed for zero privacy.
I believe there is good and bad that will come of this, potentially the fact that due to the restrictions it will force those who are affected to adapt and this means the 'industry' for privacy will evolve at a faster rate.
I honestly think we should be looking towards OPSEC, I know for a fact I could make improvements etc.
