I will never touch an Apple product again - I actually recently got rid of two iPhones, one of which I used for personal use, and the other for work use.

Quote:Despite the concerns about Apple’s plan, it’s actually a standard practice among technology companies. Facebook, Dropbox, Google and many others have systems that can automatically detect CSAM uploaded to their respective services.

Wasn't the problem they were planning to scan photos on devices themselves?

Does Apple honestly believe that an IPhone Is the only device that can store Images?

Good move for privacy. Haven't had an iPhone for 10-15 years, won't be getting another any time soon.

Their reasoning probably is if you have nothing to hide then you have nothing to fear.
Hopefully on-device scanning wont become the norm, but i'm hesitant for the future.

Yes, It may well be the case, but It also relates to every other Apple device that has the capacity to store Images.

After reading this nonsense, I'm glad I own an Android.

Yup, wouldn't be surprised if all apple devices will get a similar system. Sometimes the slippery slope argument can be a fallacy, however this really seems like a slippery slope. If Apple can get a system in place for on-device scanning i think it wont take long for android or Windows to follow.

Agreed.

Unless a warrant has been obtained to search your device for suspected Illegal activity, no one has the right to scan It. You've purchased It, so It's rightfully yours and what you do with It, Is nobody's business but your own.

Not that I don't kids protected, but I don't think this is the right solution. I can see this kind of thing being used for less noble causes down the line.

Precisely.

Given the device will be scanned, you don't know (and never will know) the type of data that will be collected, or at least viewed - which Is equally a cause for concern.
