Getting Out the Banhammer - Dismas - 11-27-2012 I've noticed that although our activity has increased significantly, so has the amount of posts with terrible grammar. This is a problem we must eliminate before it escalates. We're a forum that uses the English language and I will begin pressuring you guys to use it more. I will be slamming down the warnings soon. Please report any posts with bad grammar, as I will be issuing warnings to posters from today forward. Report any old posts as well, so that staff can fix them. While users won't receive warnings for old posts, they will receive them for posts made after today. I've already issued a couple of warnings today and I will continue to do so. I recommend reading this post. The lack of capitalization and incorrect usage of "there," "their," and "they're" are some of the errors I've seen the most. The rules state that your posts need to "be legible, have decent grammar, and be in English." Don't be the next person I issue a warning to. RE: Pulling Out the Banhammer - Nefarious - 11-27-2012 How is my grammar? No one has ever told me. RE: Getting Out the Banhammer - cr33pyguy - 11-27-2012 I think that this might not be such a great idea, because users(such as me) are not native speakers, and may not know the grammar necessary to write a post, that passes by your standarts, so at least check the posters background before telling them. That's all. For now. -CG- RE: Getting Out the Banhammer - Miles - 11-27-2012 This is actually a great idea, I get annoyed when you just can't understand people as they type like retarded monkeys smashing their faces onto their keyboards. I might issue smaller warnings for people who aren't native English speakers. For example, instead of a 10% warning - you'd receive a 5% warning. Keep in mind, something like this would take time out of my day. It's much easier to just give people a 10% warning. We'll see. RE: Getting Out the Banhammer - Crimson - 11-28-2012 I think it's necessary either way. RE: Getting Out the Banhammer - Jolly - 12-02-2012 As a person who speaks 4 diffrent languages not even by my own choice, I kinda wonder if that's a good idea because sometimes mistakes may happen especially when most people here probally don't have English as their first language. Also kinda intrestd to know what would be counted as ba grammar and what not. RE: Getting Out the Banhammer - Bannedshee - 12-02-2012 Damn it I'm screwed... Please don't ban me anar! I promise I won't call you a jew anymore! RE: Getting Out the Banhammer - Felix The Cat - 12-02-2012 *cough* You need mods, to help with this kind of moderation. *cough* And I don't think the banhammer should take action against such violations, unless it's really really bad... Whip out the warninghammer instead. ![]() RE: Getting Out the Banhammer - Ultimatum - 12-02-2012 Most major members in this community have good grammar and some excellent. I think you are referring to the newer members who don't seem to care much except get their free stuff and then leech. |
