Nintendo does something kindred with Mario at events and conventions. They have his voice actor Charles Martinet sit inside a large booth with controls and a microphone. On the outside of the booth is a screen that shows Mario and Luigi, with Charles able to move them around and verbalize as them.
This is cool.

Are they motion capturing the voice actor? That's such an amusing thought. Imagine all the cartoon characters that kids/adults love all over the world.. now imagine them streaming as vtubers...
