[ Need Advice ] Good Diet - ZillaBoom - 07-09-2013 Iv seen many video and read many articles on loosing weight, I know there is obviously a need for exercise which I have planned, I now go for 5 mile walks ( there and back ) 4 times a week & iv started up playing football, iv also recently purchased a bike which once iv managed to pump up the tyres I plan on riding every day to work. However, every diet I see online is always an American diet for food that you simply can't buy in the UK, or at least iv looked and can't find them. Does anyone from the UK have a good diet? I know someone who used to weigh about 16 stone & he did an all savory rice and water diet, he ate nothing but that for 4 weeks & he's now down to 12 stone. Iv tried this diet and was on it for about 2-3 weeks, eating nothing but rice, but I didn't loose any weight, but at the time i wasn't exercising, could that be the reason why I didn't loose anything? Here's my current stats: Age: 22 Weight: 17-18 stone ( about 252lbs ) Stamina: Practically none I'm not ashamed of my weight, I just think it's gotten a little out of hand. Why am I so fat? Let me first start by saying I haven't always been fat, from the age of about 5-19 I weighed about 11-12 stone, but since I left college iv not been active, back in college I was training to be a mechanic ( purely just to pass the time, didn't want to be a mechanic, and oddly enough I passed all 3 levels yet I still know nothing about cars o.0 ). So at college I was very active, moving around all day & lifting heavy things. However about a month after leaving college I had nothing to do, I went straight into self employment working for myself & from the age of 20-22 I have basically been sat at my computer all day, I work from 9AM to about 10PM ( some of that is done on the laptop while I'm out, I'm not a totally sad, lol ) & because iv been on my computer all the time I now weigh 18ish stone. But now iv managed to get sales directly to my mobile with a new system iv recently bought, basically can get everything packed & shipped from my phone, very useful tool ). I recently sold 1 of my companies though so I have a lot of free time on my hands, before I invest in another company I want to loose some weight, I'm not talking about going back down to 11-12 stone, maybe just about 14-15. Sorry for going off a bit, I tend to do that, moral of the story is, does anyone know a good UK diet that Tesco sell, lol. RE: [ Need Advice ] Good Diet - Harvey - 07-09-2013 First of all, you need to get this 'go on a diet' thing out of your head. A diet won't solve your problem. You need to make a lifestyle change. You might see results with a diet for a while but after that, you'll end up putting the weight back on. You say you won't now, but you will. And you will cheat throughout your diet too. It'll happen. Basically, what I'm saying is, going on a diet won't help you lose this weight. Changing your life will. But hey, you might not be at a point in your life where you want to make such a drastic change. What I'd personally do if I were in your shoes is the following.

But it all comes back to how hard you push yourself. This, but do remember you need to start slow as well, which I don't know if Harvey stated or not, I didn't fully read his reply. But again, you need to take it at a pace you can handle them gradually obtain a ranking position in your mind as you begin to lose weight, eat healthy and power up. Jogging is going to hurt you much more in terms of stamina as you're relying on your legs to hold your whole upper body, on a bike you can of course go longer but then again you're still competing against your leg power and body weight. Absolutely. Running for 30+ minutes 7 days a week in your current shape would almost kill you. But I'd expect within 3-4 weeks you'd have worked your way up to that level. RE: [ Need Advice ] Good Diet - ZillaBoom - 07-10-2013 Thanks guys, so to start with how much should I run a day? at the moment I can't run to the corner shop without almost passing out, and i live about 5 doors from the shop, lol. I'll leave this one to Jay.
RE: [ Need Advice ] Good Diet - Tragedybound - 07-11-2013 If you exercise you don't even really need to diet. I had a friend start riding bicycles and did 8 mile rides every other day just doing a regular pace and sometimes like once every 10 minutes he would sprint and take a break. He ate fast food pretty much every day starting weight was about 360lbs and in about 2 years he went down to 200lbs once you start working out your stomach shrinks and you naturally eat less and eat smaller portions. As long as you only eat the amount of about the size of your fist 5 times a day you will lose weight quick. So fuck it eat a burger and wait a few hours then eat your fries then wait a few hours and eat a salad or whatever. It works man motherfucker dumped weight now his metabolism is so high he eats a fuck load and doesnt gain a pound. |
