Gameboy Macro (Unofficial Nintendo Gameboy) - Spooky - 05-23-2021

Does anyone here own a Gameboy Macro?
Ive been following them on Youtube and Reddit for a while and am very interested in putting one together myself. It seems pretty easy, just take a used Nintendo DS Lite, remove the Top Screen, and modify the bottom into your own personalized Gameboy Macro.

There have been some really cool Macros put together. It might be worth checking out Smile

Oh wow is that an official console? That’s pretty damn cool that you got your hands on one of those. Essentially these are the same things but yours definitely wins in being cooler

Official and region-unlocked. Mine has an EZ-Flash cart with every game that was made for GB/GBC/GBA/NES.

I'm curious how long it will take for the screen or parts to burn out, so I don't use it often.

I've considered building one for the longest time, they're neat and I have about six dead DS Lites that I know would make amazing platforms for it, but at the end of the day a DS just can't play GB/GBC titles without having to emulate the earlier systems the same way as a Game Boy Micro.

No denying that they're cool units, the builds I've seen look beautiful, but they're just not for me. I'll stick to these IPS-modded babies.

Ah a classic, the GameBoy Macro. I’ve wanted to do this mod before, but in my area it’s kind of hard to get ahold of a DS for any reasonable price.

I did end up getting one, and a copy of Pokémon platinum for an exorbitant price (since Pokémon games never fucking lose value), but now I’m too occupied with shiny hunting for Cresselia (currently) to do a GameBoy Macro mod.

I am still interested in doing one eventually. I’m also pretty into modding normal GameBoys, though. I really want to take up an IPS display mod project on one.
