CDC Says Mask is No Longer Needed, if You're Vaccinated - Dismas - 05-14-2021
If you're fully vaccinated, the CDC considers it safe to not wear a mask. Fully vaccinated means that it has been two weeks since your second shot. This does not apply if you're going to a high-risk area, or crowded places.

The CDC’s guidelines for fully vaccinated people (meaning it’s been at least two weeks since your last scheduled shot) have been steadily getting more lenient over time. In March, it advised vaccinated folks that they could safely socialize with other vaccinated people and with members of a single household, unvaxxed or not. By April, it released guidelines saying that vaccinated people could unmask outdoors in most scenarios and that unvaccinated people didn’t have to wear masks while exercising. And, as first reported by the Associated Press, the CDC has now announced this afternoon that pretty much all the recommended mask restrictions will be eased for those vaccinated.

Good to see that some restrictions are being lifted up (even if they don't apply to me and my dumbass), but I can't help but wonder.
The implication is that by freely walking around with no mask, people would probably inquire for your vaccination card or proof of vaccination. That being the case, I doubt a business wants to slow down their workflow by having to ask every single customer to flash their breathing passports, so most businesses are probably just going to mandate everyone wear one even if they are vaccinated.
At least that's what I think. So realistically, I don't think this will impact society much at all.

In my view and given the vaccine Is quite recent, It's too early to tell whether It will fully protect without wearing a face mask.

That may be the CDC guidance, but I'd wear one just not to freak people out. With variants still in the wild, there's no guarantee how effective the vaccine even is.

This will only push people in my area to lie about being vaccinated to not have to wear the mask. While this sounds like a good idea on paper, I can see americans abusing the shit out of it.
That is unless the govmt has a chip in the vaccine and can tell when youre lying ... /s

I'm the same- I continue to wear a mask, Irrespective of being advised otherwise.

I think it's a mistake and it's too early to lift restrictions. Of course, they are experts on the subject. But then they are also controlled by the government who wants country to be back on its feet at the earliest to boost up the flaying economy. UK was among the first to remove restrictions on wearing mask. Daily Covid count has surpassed 50,000 as of last report. US similarly is going to reintroduce wearing mask compulsory after seeing infections rising. I feel wearing masks, maintaining social distancing, using sanitizers and soaps, and getting vaccinated should stay until there is no trace of virus anywhere in the world.

The CDC now agrees with WHO and has updated its stance on fully vaccinated people wearing masks indoors in certain areas like schools. They believe that elderly persons and persons with medical conditions needs to wear masks even if they are fully vaccinated.
