I did Brazillian Jiu-Jitsu for a couple years. Sparring was good fun. I recommend training at an actual school/dojo, as you'll improve your reflexes and learn by performing.

Exactly this.

Around 15 years ago, my friend was competing and became the state champion In my locality. His skill set was acquired from a dojo right from day one.

I'm going to do this kind of martial arts. Now I just train in the gym several times a week to put my body in order.

It definitely can be worth it to try martial arts too, especially if you find the gym a boring place to be. It can be somewhat social, and definitely keeps your brain occupied. It can be nice to have that variety too.

Martial arts also teaches self-discipline, which can change one's attitude and outlook on life.

I did taekwondo for around 4 years when I was In my teens and to this day, I haven't forgotten what I was taught.

I totally agree. I did Kickboxing for a few years as a child, then a few more years to just shy of a blackbelt in Karate in my teens. I'd really like to start up another martial again soon.

I mean I guess you can buy it and watch it through then just refund it after a month but that's not really good for learning anything
