Death penalty. Yes or no? - Blur - 06-09-2013 Capital punishment is the sentence of death, or practice of execution, handed down as punishment for a criminal offence. It can only be used by a state, after a proper legal trial. The United Nations in 2008 adopted a resolution (62/149) calling for a moratorium on the use of the death penalty, however fifty-eight countries, including the United States and China, still exercise the death penalty. As such, the topic remains highly controversial. Abolitionist groups and international organizations argue that it is cruel and inhumane, while proponents claim that it is an effective and necessary deterrent for the most heinous of crimes.
Do you support the death penalty or not? I found this very interesting because awhile ago this person was going on death trial and the family of the victim didn't want the man to get the death penalty. Source: idebate RE: Death penalty. Yes or no? - Bullen - 06-09-2013 Yeah I do not support death Penaltys RE: Death penalty. Yes or no? - Ronnie - 06-09-2013 I only support death penalties to certain cases. Such as multiple murders. RE: Death penalty. Yes or no? - Guardian - 06-09-2013 I am an eye-for-an-eye kinda guy, so yes. I believe if you killed someone in cold-blood, or premeditated, then yes you should be put to death. Accidental death then no. RE: Death penalty. Yes or no? - Mafia - 06-09-2013 It depends, my parents and I pay tax so why should we pay for keeping them in prison, it costs over 50 grand to keep someone in prison. But it is £4 for a bullet to the head.... If it was up to me they would all be dead by a bullet RE: Death penalty. Yes or no? - Nova - 06-09-2013 I think the death penalty should be bought back. Though, it depends on what the person has done. For example: Someone randomly stabs a person for no reason. Now this shouldn't be tolerated and in my opinion should result in the person dying by cyanide or morphine. I would also line up all the murderers and shoot them all individually. I love how me and my Nan have multiple debates about the cane, death penalty and capital punishment. We also talk about WW2 and other nations weapons - me and my Nan
RE: Death penalty. Yes or no? - Four - 06-09-2013 In my opinion it depends on the method used to kill the criminal and the crime he committed. Currently in the United States, we put the criminal to death by means of injection. This inject usually costs a lot of money so I'm not too fond of this. They give them this lethal injection to keep the pain level to a minimum. If they did something worthy of the death penalty, why the hell don't we just shoot them or use other means that are cheap? Depending on the crime that was committed, I believe that there should be capital punishment. The crimes that would be on my list are rape/molestation, animal abuse, murder(Excluding accidental), and the distribution of child pornography. Most countries are getting too soft by abolishing it. I'd rather go back to the times of Louis XIV and other leaders when public beheading were common than have to house criminals at my expense. RE: Death penalty. Yes or no? - Cobra - 06-10-2013 Let's just go back to the firing squad it's cheap and it gets the job done. ![]() Only kidding but yes I do believe lethal injection should be a punishment. Why would you go with lethal injection over other means? Do you realize how expensive it is? RE: Death penalty. With lethal injections costing a lot of money, if death penalty was brought back, I would go with a bullet in the head, or being hanged. Cheapest ways. |
