CD Projekt Red Hacked, Source Code Stolen - Oni - 02-09-2021 CDPR has already had a rough year so far, with the poor launch of 2077 and multiple lawsuits. Now their data has been compromised, with a crudely written note left behind. Quote:CD Projekt Red has been the victim of a targeted cyberattack, in which hackers claim to have stolen internal documents and the source code for Cyberpunk 2077, The Witcher 3, and more. With something like this I don't know if they can go on for any longer if all of the data that got stolen gets leaked or sold. RE: CD Projekt Red Hacked, Source Code Stolen - mothered - 02-09-2021 If the attacker's note Is true to Its word, I'd assume It will have a devastating Impact on the company- even though they're refusing to comply. It'll be Interesting to know precisely what the hackers are after. At the same time, you can't really blame CDPR. They could pay this person an exorbitant amount, only for them to leak all the information anyway. Would be bizarre if it was an inside job. That said, refusing to pay Is a certainty, whereas paying the amount requested Is a possibility. RE: CD Projekt Red Hacked, Source Code Stolen - Drako - 02-09-2021 I was actually about to post a thread on this topic after hearing about the news in a Youtube video. It's crazy how terrible this launch has been for CDPR. They're taking blow after blow. At this point I would go as far as saying this has been the worst launch of a video game in gaming history. RE: CD Projekt Red Hacked, Source Code Stolen - Refusal - 02-09-2021 They said they would not give in to the demands. Now im curious to see the dumps. :/ horrible situation though NGL. RE: CD Projekt Red Hacked, Source Code Stolen - DragonyCat - 02-09-2021 Quite sad. RIP that company. Combined with the poor launch, I'd say it's pretty possible they're suffering at the hands of an employee. The note is so terribly written that it almost gives the theory credibility. With how many decent titles CDPR has released in the past, it's hard to believe this would be caused by pure incompetence. RE: CD Projekt Red Hacked, Source Code Stolen - Oni - 02-13-2021 Supposedly, the data's already been sold: https://www.engadget.com/cd-projekt-red-cyberpunk-2077-source-code-hack-ransomware-sold-202610194.html |
