Charger Not Included? May Become the New Norm - Oni - 12-28-2020 Sounds like Apple, Samsung, and Xiaomi will no longer be including chargers with their phones. Reminds me of when phone manufacturers began omitting the audio port. Not good, especially since some devices have non-standard charging (i.e. turbo). Quote:Apple isn’t the only major brand removing the charger from the box of its latest flagship phone. As noticed on Reddit, Xiaomi has announced that its upcoming Mi 11 phone won’t include a charger. The rationale is familiar. Many people already have old chargers on hand, and this answers demands for a “more environmentally friendly” device with less waste and smaller packaging. May Become the New Norm - Refusal - 12-28-2020 Sounds like a greed play to me. Its like buying a monitor without a power cable being included. honestly an annoying power play by manufacturers to make more money off the market. :/ RE: Charger Not Included? May Become the New Norm - Oni - 12-28-2020 Oneplus recently took a dig at Apple on their 8T ad: https://www.indiatoday.in/technology/news/story/at-oneplus-8t-launch-oneplus-takes-a-dig-at-apple-iphone-12-shows-65w-charger-in-the-box-1731766-2020-10-15 It's a good thing they include a charger (as 65W ones aren't common) RE: Charger Not Included? A charger Is an essential component to keep the phone operational and to not Include It, Is absolutely ridiculous. RE: Charger Not Included? May Become the New Norm - Mr.Kurd - 12-28-2020 Sadly, also recent phone boxes are headset less. RE: Charger Not Included? May Become the New Norm - Disguised - 12-28-2020 If you thought that getting phones without headphone jacks were shit 2020 had a surprise for you Phones without chargers. What's next, phones without sim card trays to save the planet earth? It's ridiculous that everyone is going this route. Sometimes you at least hope they bring the prices down of the smartphones when they leave a lot out of the box, instead they just massively increase them RE: Charger Not Included? May Become the New Norm - conspir4cy - 12-29-2020 that is sad when you do a lot of effort in saving every cent day by day, month by month for buying a smartphone for work or schooll. i think that they're doing this just for benefits, not for saving the nature or whatelse. what will be next? a phone without battery? lol Charger Not Included? May Become the New Norm - Gew - 12-29-2020 I've read so many complaints about this recently. I am (however) more or less convinced that this will become the new standard. Everyone has wall USB adapters lying around nowadays, as well as cords. Well, not everyone of course. Someone will draw the short straw in all this. I actually bought a 3ft long USB-C cable for my significant other for Christmas present. No wall adapter though, we have plenty lying around already! [emoji2960] RE: Charger Not Included? The headphone jack thing was ridiculous, but now this? What would be far more ecological, would be to make products that don't have planned obsolescence. They are still going to produce a bunch of chargers to sell, so they're not reducing electronic waste in any way. However, I am constantly having to buy new chargers (they are moved a lot in my house due to lack of power outlets) and break over time. They could, look into their production processes to reduce waste at the time of making the product, and they would look into product longevity. tl;dr: This is complete bollocks and is doing nothing for the environment. How frustrating. |
