Cyberpunk 2077 - Your PC Might Not Be Able To Run The Game At 60 FPS - Drako - 12-08-2020 I made one seperate thread on Cyberpunk 2077, but I feel like this news deserves a second thread. So here we are, it's December 8th as of writing, and the game releases tomorrow in the United States. I myself am definitely hyped for the game, and I'm sure a lot of other gamers are too. But I think there's a glaring issue that gamers and reviewers alike have overlooked; PC performance. Yeah, people who were actually able to secure a next-gen console like a PS5 or Xbox Series X won't have to worry about hitting 60 FPS, but PC users might want to perpare themselves for some dissapointment. Based off of some benchmarks ran by Tom's Hardware we can conclude that Cyberpunk 2077 will be the new Crysis. You may be familiar with this spec sheet released by CDPR here ![]() But you should be expecting performance along these lines ![]() (Specs: i9 9900K, MSI MEG Z390 Ace, Corsair 2x16GB DDR4-3600 CL16, XPG SX8200 Pro 2TB, Seasonic Focus 850 Platinum, Corsair Hydro H150i Pro RGB, Phanteks Enthoo Pro M) So... It looks like either CDPR overestimated the game's performance, or the chart was actually targeting 30 FPS instead of the usual 60. In my opinion CDPR's chart was just messy and confusing. They should have specified what sort of numbers they were targeting and they also should have given the chart a better layout. After I saw those numbers from Tom's Hardware I was punching myself in the face for buying a GTX series card thinking it would suffice. And my CPU can't compare to the test CPU either, which was an i9 9900K. So I'll defintely be buying some new components in the near future. For now it looks like I'll be running the game at low settings. But for other users with better specs, don't fret just yet. The DRM that was implemented in review copies is said to decrease performance. This information was provided to GamersNexus by CDPR, which GamersNexus tweeted out yesterday. You can view the tweet here. You also have to consider that the drivers specialized for Cyberpunk 2077 have not been released by AMD or Nvidia yet. On top of that, I believe the benchmarks were done before the day 1 patch, but I can't be too sure since the benchmarks were done on a PC and not a console. This patch could possibly improve performance, but it could also decrease performance slightly. And over time CDPR will still be releasing updates that will definitely fix performance issues. Right now CDPR is focusing on fixing bugs and hitting the release deadline. Even if we can't all indulge in the game at its fullest graphical settings, I hope everyone can experience everything else Cyberpunk has to offer on December 9/10th! RE: Cyberpunk 2077 - Your PC Might Not Be Able To Run The Game At 60 FPS - Skullmeat - 12-08-2020 As someone who has a GTX 1080 SC and an FX-8350, my CPU concerns me. I'll also be playing at 1440p, which makes things even more performance intensive. I'm hoping I can at least run the game on medium settings. RE: Cyberpunk 2077 - Your PC Might Not Be Able To Run The Game At 60 FPS - Dismas - 12-10-2020 My 7700K will be the weakest link with a Titan XP. Guess we'll see in the next hour! Guess we'll see in the next hour! Like you saw on Discord, my performance isn't as bad as I expected. I'm averaging barely 50 FPS. Right now I'm just poking around my BIOS and Nvidia Control Panel to see if I can make it to 60 FPS. I don't really feel like upgrading my PC right after upgrading the whole thing a few months ago. RE: Cyberpunk 2077 - Your PC Might Not Be Able To Run The Game At 60 FPS - Dismas - 12-11-2020 Highly recommend updating drivers and using Precision X1 for anyone that's experiencing bad FPS. I'm able to do High/4K without any major frame drops. Ultra is a different beast. Hopefully they optimize it more. RE: Cyberpunk 2077 - Your PC Might Not Be Able To Run The Game At 60 FPS - Dismas - 12-16-2020 If you're interested in stories with similar themes to 2077, I'd recommend Westworld or The 100. Both have a bit of AI, cybernetics, and dystopia. They're not Bladerunner or Gibson, but you'll see the overlap. The game has an interesting story/gameplay, so I don't place as much emphasis on the graphics. Would actually be worth playing on lower graphics, if you still ascertain what's going on. I don't care about graphics for real, but for me to run cyberpunk, I must lower down the graphics at the point it will be unplayable |
