Gaza conflict: Militant rocket targets Jerusalem
Hamas militants in the Gaza Strip have launched a rocket on Jerusalem - the first time the holy city has been targeted from
Gaza.
Israel Army radio said the missile landed just outside the city - and there are no reported casualties. An earlier missile targeted Tel Aviv.
It comes amid mounting violence, following Israel's killing of Hamas's military chief on Wednesday.
Egypt's leader has vowed to back Gaza in the face of "blatant aggression".
Twenty Palestinians and three Israelis have been killed since Wednesday.
Militants and civilians, including at least five children, were among the Palestinian dead, Palestinian officials said.
They include Hamas's military leader Ahmed Jabari, killed by an Israeli air strike on Wednesday.
Two Israeli women and a man died when a rocket fired from Gaza hit a building in the southern town of Kiryat Malachi on Thursday,
Israeli officials said.
Before the recent upsurge, Israel had repeatedly carried out air strikes on Gaza, as Palestinian militants fired rockets across the border.
It is not clear if the rocket targeting Jerusalem was the same Iranian-built Fajr-5 launched towards Tel Aviv for the second day on Friday.
The rockets have an estimated range of 75km (45 miles).
Israel's Haaretz newspaper said the rocket landed in Gush Etzion, south of Jerusalem.
Israel Radio said checks were being carried out by police to see if a second rocket fell in the Jerusalem area.
The missile targeting Tel Aviv appears to have done no harm, with police officials quoted variously as saying it had landed in the sea or
in an unpopulated area.
It is the first time Tel Aviv has come under attack since the 1991 Gulf War.
Analysts say it is the first time Gaza militants have deployed such powerful missiles.
An Israeli military spokesman said 550 missiles had been fired into Israel since Wednesday - 184 had been intercepted by its radarprotective system, Iron Dome.
The Israelis had hit more than 600 targets in Gaza, the spokesman said.

I have the assumption that middle east countries are going to have a rough few years. I for one, am totally against this. With soon the intrusion between the US and UK, I can sense WW3.

No doubt. Although I tend to side with Israel (not because the US does), I think nations should stay out of it.
In situations like these, it's obvious there are only two sides and it will inevitably cause war. Hopefully it won't escalate.

Let's not allow the middle-east to cause war like we did with the powder-kegs.

Hello guys
I'm from Palestine and I guess Israel is mistaken, they want to take our land and they think we'll just be quiet? Defending our land is 1 of our rights isn't it?

Wouldn't you agree that Palestine would like Israel's land as well?

Israel got no land!
They just took Palestine's land and pretended that it's their land.

Israel did no such thing. They were given that land after WW2. It is up to you to decide if it was a wrong or right decision, but they did not just take it. I believe the UN gave it to them

I really hope war won't brake out.

Hamas and Hezbollah have both been more or less at war with Israel for a long while.

Some problems I have with both of these militant groups:

1. They kill innocent people. This classifies them as terrorists. Don't like it? Don't target civilian centers.

2. They both refuse diplomacy. Israel has the backing of the UN. The two militant groups won't win a purely military

As previously mentioned, you guys actually have yourself to blame. The UN had planned to allocate the land like so:
[Image: 200px-UN_Partition_Plan_For_Palestine_1947.svg.png]

This plan got abolished when Arabs(it is still unclear whether Palestinians were among the invaders, but the invaders were definetly acting for Palestine) invaded days after initial implementation. Note that Jerusalem is unclaimed territory, and the entire west bank was set aside for Palestinians.

-_- I side 100% with palestine, what israel is doing is wrong and terrible. The only reason Gaza fired rockets at Israel was to defend themselves. And for the last time GAZA IS NOT HAMAS
