Farmville Shutting Down - Oni - 09-29-2020 Not that anyone's still playing it in 2020, but Zynga's shutting down Farmville at the end of the year. Quote:While it looks like most of the problems of the past year will follow us into the next, there is one comforting thought. Whatever 2021 brings, FarmVille is not coming with. Like you mentioned already, people still play this? RE: Farmville Shutting Down - mothered - 09-29-2020 This was very popular around a decade ago. Strangely, I think it was mostly the parents of the 90s kids that got really into this. That and bejeweled blitz. The younger generations (for the most part) dropped it almost 10 years ago. However, there's a lot of games that copy the model of farmville. Pay-to-play events, energy caps of some kind and an insistence on relying on "friends" to give you resources to progress. There's millions of these little suckers, so other than that particular title, I don't feel like farmville is ever going to be really "gone". RE: Farmville Shutting Down - Ladog - 10-01-2020 I will be playing this weekend. RE: Farmville Shutting Down - Jiggly - 10-01-2020 (10-01-2020, 11:18 AM)Ladog Wrote: I will be playing this weekend. Really?! Have you always played, or are you just playing to see what it's like before it disappears? xD RE: Farmville Shutting Down - Oni - 10-01-2020 (09-29-2020, 08:59 AM)Jiggly Wrote:(09-29-2020, 05:22 AM)Aeolian Wrote: I remember playing this when I was still at school wow! Like you mentioned already, people still play this? Zynga's mechanics have definitely influenced games internationally. Most mobile and social games utilize a similar pay-to-win strategy. Unfortunately, they contributed to making that approach more widespread. Like you mentioned already, people still play this? This is so true. I personally, really thoroughly, dislike this strategy. However, it's pretty popular, and a substantial way to make money. This doesn't mean that strategy won't evolve over time too. It may evolve to something I don't mind. Who knows. RE: Farmville Shutting Down - karuu6 - 10-01-2020 rip, i loved farmville a lot very much RE: Farmville Shutting Down - doperdoped - 10-09-2020 The post made me nostalgic
