Would you go to Mars? - Jiggly - 09-15-2020

I just finished watching the Netflix show, Away. It's about a commander and her small crew, on the first manned trip to Mars, the perils of the trip, and the heartbreak of leaving loved ones behind (or not having anyone to leave behind). Each crew member represents a different nation, from the USA, UK, India, Russia and China, all showing different pressures and backstories.

I quite enjoyed the show, especially as it's set as if it was happening right now. The likelihood, is that we wont see a manned mission to Mars for many years yet (unless Elon Musk gets his way).

If you were able to be trained and prepared, would you want to do a three year trip to Mars, and be one of the first there, with all the risks and fame that would bring?

The trip to Mars will test our inventiveness and ingenuity, and challenge our assumptions and prejudices. That, alone, is worth the trip. We are stuck within our own notions of what is possible when we are capable of so much more.

I say I would love to go to mars. But when it comes down to it idk, so many unknowns I'm not sure I'd actually have the guts to go when it comes down to it

It depends really. First I'd like to know a colony on Mars would be safe for me. So I would definitely wait to see if it was viable for certain. Then I would have to consider if overpopulation ever became an issue here, maybe job oppourtunities on Mars, or even if our planet was at risk somehow.

If there were an established colony who were doing well, as well as a resort of sorts which were regularly taking visitors. Return "flights" are also a must.

I'd be the first In line to go to Mars.

I'd love to experience a whole new world.

if trees , water and some basic things are there on mars , i would like to live there.

on mars , i dont want cars , and technology ... every human should work using there hand ...a cycle can only allowed but no advanance technology i dont want.

living a simple life in 90s was much more relaxing and fun , as you see how stress full life we living in 2020.

I get that. As much as I love technology, sometimes I just wanna live in the wilderness off the land. Simpler times

Have you heard that story about a fisherman?

Often people are quoted to lead happier lives when they are living more humbly.

I'd argue the first manned mission to Mars would be near lethal, extremely difficult and dangerous. A later colony would likely be a research base before it became anything else.

It's about intergalactic lesbian astronauts, from what she told me.
