For me I'd go with PC. It's generally more useful. If your current computer still does its job decently then I guess a PS5 would be cool.

Depends on what you need. If all you want is a gaming machine, a PS5 is a pretty decent option. It is just starting its life cycle, which means you will probably be getting 6 years of support minimum. Just know however, that your selection of games will forever be smaller than if you got a PC. We are talking about a console that just started that is compatible with SOME PS4 games, vs. a PC that is still compatible with most games going back 20 years.
Which one looks sexier to you? Are exclusive games a factor in your decision?
If cost is a big factor, you can still build a decent system for around the same price.

In a nutshell, what I am saying is it all depends on what you want. If you really want the exclusive games, go PS5. If you want the larger game library, go PC.

I'm not a gamer, but did play quite a few many years ago on both the PC and console.

I definitely preferred the console, namely for ease of use. I have the hardware to run the latest games, but I think the hassle of utilizing ex-amount of keys on the keyboard and having to remember their functionality, Is one reason I don't game at all nowadays.

As you said for the purpose of gaming I'll answer this strictly with relation to games, PC has hundreds of other benefits than a console.

I'd choose the PC over console any day, especially given how so many console "exclusive" games are being ported to PC now, Xbox are doing it with nearly all their games, and some of Playstation games have been ported. The only thing that the PS5 has appealing to me is the exclusives not on PC.

So really you want to ask yourself, I think, is if the PS5 worth it for the handful of exclusives that are not on PC, and that won't be on PC.
