REQ: Malware Detection in Applications - cyberchron - 06-18-2020

I'm just getting back into this tech stuff. And it makes me anxious thinking about all the stuff that could be packed into these downloaded applications. So I'm wondering if someone has some documentation or some links I can go to to learn some of the following.

Proper Sandboxing and application testing to avoid infection. checking applications for hidden packaging / dropped files / connections that type of thing.

I just basically wanna have as much know how as I can to avoid as much infection as possible im sure i've probably already got something but i format pretty regularly not sure if thatll get rid of everything.

thanks in advance

How competent are you In this type of analysis?

I'm just trying to establish the type of material that's suited to your knowledge.

That's kinda hard to gauge really since i'm unsure what it all entails.

With that being said i am pretty quick to pick stuff up and not scared to google terms and software and their uses. I'm like somewhere in the middle not fully retarded but no genius

Well, sandboxing applications Is pretty much self-explanatory, by using Sandboxie Itself. If you're unsure of Its usage, I've written an In depth guide In my blog.

In terms of analyzing files, I use a tool named Volatility to perform memory forensics, but It's not suited to the average user.

Ah yeah i Have sandboxie installed and have been using that.

Is it usual for malware to still trigger windows defender inside of sandboxie because i opened something in it and my shit went off and it put me into full paranoia mode hahaha

Ill definitely give that other program a look over thank you Smile
