Are awards still given out? - Defeat - 05-28-2020

I'm curious, how does one get the Social Engineer award? Unlike my last thread , I am genuinely curious about this (thread title, in my case, only purchased mine with NSP/$). I don't like posting successful SEs for obvious reasons, but if there's a certain number of posts in the section, stories, etc... let me know, I'd like to get this one lol. I noticed no one has it, so maybe it is new because I don't think I ever noticed it. Not to steal an idea from HF, but could my group have jurisdiction over this 1 (not to give myself one, but it makes some sense).

I agree that some awards should have more clear-cut guidelines on how to achieve them.

I haven't given many of the Identity awards in a while. The awards are for people that are heavily involved in certain sections or masters of their field. They're very special, so that does mean I only give them out every couple of years.

Some examples of people that earned awards:

@Nuance (Artist) - Designed our logo and assisted with graphics during the first couple of years of the forum.
@Jiggly (Artist) - Has an actual degree in Art. The room is cluttered with her drawings.
@ProfessorChill (Audiophile) - Shared music for years and operated Sinisterly's radio.
@Reiko (Whitehat) - Identified multiple security flaws on our site (and others). One of the smartest people I know.
@phyrrus9 (Coder) - Contributed to security/programming sections, hundreds of threads and quality guides.

You don't partake in SEing if I recall, so who would be monitoring that section for possible recipients? @mothered since he's in the group? Just trying to get some context on the SE award specifically, not all identity awards.

I don't post in the section often, but I do monitor. Over the years a lot of people have asked for the award, normally on the basis of doing refunds/DNAs. I won't support or give awards for that sort of thing. We might sell custom awards to members/groups, so that they can issue them at their own discretion.

Would it fall under this?
"Tier III Groups
Get all the benefits of Tier II and Tier I groups.
Get their own username effects (within reason).
Can have up to 3 leaders.
Can choose a special group perk such as increased reputation giving, etc..."

If so,I'd love to upgrade my group

It ensures the awards do not become saturated, and keeps their Integrity Intact.

I like the suggestions in the past few posts. The awards are meaningless if given out too much, but custom awards could contribute to the prestige of particular groups.

Agreed, the more prestigious they are the more members will desire them and work harder to achieve their desired award by posting quality threads and sharing knowledge. I like the idea of groups being able to pay to get separate awards they can bestow, would be a cool clout factor/revenue generator for the forum.
