Google "i'm not a human" test - Charonone - 05-19-2020

More and more websites use this technology that google has to offer the so called i'm not a robot test. But it's really great for privacy and security? I have seen that recently even sinister.ly is using it extensively to mitigate possible threats. Cloudfare recently switched from google to their more intuitive test. What's your opinion about this topic? Please share it Smile .

In my experience, being able to verify a user is human before they can load resources is great. Helps with unwanted traffic/attacks, but can also inconvenience the average user. Typically front-ends like Cloudflare aren't very intrusive, but there's always drawbacks.

I experience It on a daily basis during my exploitation of websites.

While It serves Its purpose well In preventing automated (attack) requests, by no means does It deter hackers and the like.

To follow up on Oni's response, these measures aren't just useful for "threats". It can reduce spam traffic and bots that post on the forum. Therefore, making moderators jobs a lot easier.
