I have Tourettes Syndrome [AMA] - bag02craso - 05-06-2020 Hi guys, I have the well-known neurological "disease" Tourettes Syndrome. I have had the diagnose for 12 years and know every bit about it and how to prevail and live with it in order to have a normal life. Ask me anything. I am always taking precautions to ensure that my condition does not explode like when it first started. I have a daily routine of pills, prescription called Orap, that is also used to repress neurological disorders like schizophrenia and anxiety. Also, I have to make sure that I don't get to handle too crowded areas in longer periods of time. Stress, pressure and sleep are huge factors as well. I know of the medication you're taking- Orap, which Is also under the name of Pimozide. It's very effective Indeed. When it first started, the doctors implied that I would never get to "live a normal life/ and or get a normal job". Luckily I proved them wrong. Predominantly, ongoing medications do not cure a medical Illness, but by no means does It suggest that you cannot live the same lifestyle prior to your condition. Yes, it does not cure it and nothing probably never will, but it certainly helps lowering the amount of tics and fallbacks and of course life quality. Everything that happened back then brought a lot to the table. Anxiety, social anxiety, depression, being a target of bullying. And for that sake, ADHD is a common thing that usually follows people with the diagnose Tourettes Syndrome. So at a young age, there were (and still are) a lot to learn how to bypass and maintain. You've been through a lot of setbacks, but have come out on top. You should give yourself a pat on the back. Not too many people stay positive with the amount of negativity that you've experienced, and (to a certain degree), still do. I turn everything into a positive thing and have no doubt that this made me the man that I am today. For all that its worth, I am actually thankful for everything. I now have success, extremely strong mental psyche and a good heart. None the less a huge urge to help people that have been/ or are currently going through a psychological hell. I am very aware and capable of seeing through their eyes, as I have been through a large part of the drill myself. There is nothing I can't handle in this very moment.(05-07-2020, 07:42 AM)bag02craso Wrote:(05-07-2020, 07:29 AM)mothered Wrote: I'd love to know what their definition of "normal" Is.I completely agree.
