Unregistered/Guest Users - Crimin4L - 03-30-2020 I feel like threads should be unviewable for unregistered/guest users because in the past half hour, there are 45 members and 955 unregistered/guest users online (source). This has to be because you don't need to be registered to see content or even links, meaning you can leach 100% and never have to sign up. Here are two Ideas I have to solve this: 1. Make all threads completely unviewable to guests/unregistered users. 2. Make some type of [.spoiler][./spoiler] option, and between the [.spoiler][./spoiler] would be unviewable to guests/unregistered users: - Example: Code: [hidden]
You have to be registered to see this message/content.
[/hidden]I really hope the staff considers this idea, because with certain things you don't even get the thanks or credit you are looking for. Most of the time the people downloading your content are randoms that never even registered. Who else feels like this is a problem that should be fixed? Please leave your thought below! RE: Unregistered/Guest Users - Drako - 03-30-2020 I think someone else proposed this idea before. But I forgot why Oni hasn't implemented anything to stop guests yet. RE: Unregistered/Guest Users - nihlix - 03-31-2020 I understand you and agree up to a point... If the suggestions you propose are implemented then you would end up with loads of accounts being created just to download one item, and they will never be seen again. And possibly most of the accounts that will be generated will be made by the people you are trying to stop. Thats the gamble of running a forum tho, you don't know who's gonna stay. Thats why you give them as many things to make them want to stay and be apart of the community. although I do understand what you are saying. So how do we stop these mfs

RE: Unregistered/Guest Users - Losi - 03-31-2020 Spoiler: isn't this a feature on here already? I'm pretty sure guests cannot see spoiler content but idk RE: Unregistered/Guest Users - mothered - 03-31-2020 (03-31-2020, 05:32 AM)Losi Wrote: I'm pretty sure guests cannot see spoiler content but idk Forum permitted, they most certainly can. If they went as far as signing up, they might post , or if anything still get a feel for the website. It's a better solution then just letting anyone leech without having anything in place to try and stop it
RE: Unregistered/Guest Users - Oni - 03-31-2020 As things are, we prevent viewing >5 threads for people that are unregistered. I may raise the number, but the objective isn't to force people into registering. The point is not to "force people into registering" but rather to protect the ones who did register by protecting their content. Like i said above; why share something to this forum and its community when it will just be leached by someone who isn't even apart of the community. |
