Does anyone actually use the Alerts? - Chieftain - 04-03-2013

As the title says, does anyone here actually use the alerts?

Personally, I do not. I see this being great on a huge forum so you'll know if someone talked to you, but personally, I do not like it in this case. And I find it rather annoying that even if I've seen the quote the alert is talking about, it'll still be there.

I think it's an absolutely brilliant plugin, but needs a better way of getting rid of the alerts. Currently, I've got 59 alerts saying someone has replied to a post I'm in. Even if I go to that post/thread, the alert remains. It's a good system, but needs some refinement for sure.

I don't really understand them so no.

When I see I have them I know which threads I've posted in anyway, so I don't really need them. They may be considered a handy tool for some though, is there a way we can turn them off?

I really really like the alert. They are also on other forums available and work awesome.

Awesome, cheers py.

I enjoy it.

On other forums where I'm posting a lot more, I have to manually go back and check if anyone else responded. With this, I just have to see if there's an alert.

Exactly. But if this forum gets a lot bigger it will be annoying.

Not necessarily. I think it'll be helpful, unless you have like 50 posts a day average on threads that are popular.

I think if you configure it properly, it's nothing but helpful.
