Ok I need to buy a couple new HD's for this.

Quote:A contractor for the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) has been hacked and secret projects that were being developed for the intelligence agency were leaked to Russian Media. These projects detail Russia's attempt to de-anonymize users on the Tor network, collect data from social networks, and how to isolate the Russian portion of the Internet from the rest of the world.

On July 13th, 2019, a contactor for the Russia FSB named "Sytech" was claimed to be hacked by a hacking group named 0v1ru$. As part of this hack, the group defaced the contactor's site to show an image of "Yoba-face", which they posted an image of on their Twitter feed.

7.5 terabytes of data, jesus.

That aside, I'm sure we can count on wikileaks to release all of it.

There are known ways to de-anonymize users on Tor, however certainly they are not very realiable. So it would be pretty interesting to see another way of doing this, especially if it's something of big amplitude.
Those types of operations done by state actors shows us all, again, that we need to have better and more reliable software that cares about your privacy. Therefore, from my point of view we should start to see more open-source projects like Tor, that provides the user the ability to have good encryption, default pro-privacy settings and anonymity. Of course, you can't make the perfect software, so bugs and vulnerabilities will definitely be found, but as long as it's a dedicated community that is transparent and solves problems immediately after they are reported, everything should be ok.
With all of that said, we should take more care about our options when it comes to good software, that has nothing to harvest from you and focuses on anonymity/privacy. If nothing will be done. I'm quite concerned that the future might not be as bright as it sounds.

This will be very good for the public to be released, since it will show how much data you can gather on a person just by scraping from the internet related things to that specific person. Therefore, maybe some users might reconsider using social media websites in the first place.

To be honest, I really don't think this is so surprising. In fact, I'd be shocked if Russia were the only country to have projects like this going on [Image: 24HRLupbPd.png]
