Microsoft to explore using Rust - skeeba - 07-17-2019
This is an announcement, not a question or tutorial.
I am very happy to see this news, as I have been following Rust for many years now.
The intro:
Quote:Microsoft plans to explore using the Rust programming language as an alternative to C, C++, and others, as a way to improve the security posture of its and everyone else's apps.
The announcement was made yesterday by Gavin Thomas, Principal Security Engineering Manager for the Microsoft Security Response Center (MSRC).
"You're probably used to thinking about the Microsoft Security Response Center as a group that responds to incidents and vulnerabilities," Thomas said. "We are a response organization, but we also have a proactive role, and in a new blog series we will highlight Microsoft's exploration of safer system programming languages, starting with Rust."

I've heard good things about Rust and how its possibly a good replacement for the C family but whether Microsoft will make a full switch is definitely yet to be seen.

The only problem would be training all of their coders to learn this new language. And obviously programmers for Microsoft are very skilled. Although it's similar to what's already in use, it'd still be a bit of an issue.
After reading this I decided to take a closer look at Rust, and it seems really good. I might just start learning it. And since it's similar to C++ that's a bigger turn on for me.
