Sim swapping is where someone learns information on you and then they contact you and act like lets say AT&T customer service rep and then once at the end of the call ask for a last 4 of SSN, This is therefor they can call AT&T as you with your address they have and name and last 4 of SSN and activate your number on there phone. This would allow the person to go to all the email providers and use your number to signin or get pass resets and therefor hack you. I found this all out on google right now. Ways i would recommend on how to not get caught. Use a cheap trash phone and VPN is my approach to it but still i don't how this is worth my time.

Exactly this.

In simple terms, SEing you to take over your phone account and perform malicious acts thereafter.
